Flagstaff, Ariz. – Thunderstorms could disrupt travel and outdoor plans across Flagstaff Saturday as monsoon moisture fuels widespread showers in northern Arizona. The National Weather Service expects the strongest storms to develop between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., bringing heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning.
According to the National Weather Service office in Bellemont, Saturday’s storm chances stand at 60%, with rainfall likely tapering off to scattered showers by evening. Afternoon highs are forecast near 78 degrees, but storms may bring rapid cooling and hazardous driving conditions on I-40 and I-17. Wind gusts could reach 17 mph ahead of the storms.
Saturday night will see a lower chance of lingering thunderstorms before skies partially clear, with lows around 49. Sunday looks calmer and mostly sunny, though an isolated storm could still pop up late in the day.
The unsettled pattern continues into early next week. A slight chance of storms returns Monday and Tuesday, with highs climbing into the mid-to-upper 80s. Residents are urged to be alert for sudden downpours, especially in flood-prone areas and canyons.
Storm activity is expected to remain possible through midweek, with additional updates likely.
