Reno, NV – A blustery start to spring is giving way to warmer temperatures across northern Nevada, with sunny skies expected through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory in the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area remains in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday. South to southwest winds of 20 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph, have made for difficult travel, especially on I-580 and Highway 395. Winds are expected to ease by morning, allowing for calmer conditions heading into the weekend.

Thursday will bring partly sunny skies with highs near 54°F, with light winds continuing through the day. By Friday, temperatures will climb into the mid-50s, with mostly clear conditions overnight and lows in the mid-30s.

The first weekend of spring looks much warmer, with highs reaching 60°F on Saturday under partly sunny skies. Sunday will be even warmer, hitting 67°F with clear conditions. This warming trend continues into next week, with highs near 75°F by Wednesday.

Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts can expect improving conditions after today’s windy weather. However, the National Weather Service advises caution on roads, as gusty conditions may persist in some areas early Thursday morning.
