RALEIGH, NC – Thunderstorms are expected to move through North Carolina tonight, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds before a sunny but cooler weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), showers and possible thunderstorms will develop after 4 p.m. Thursday. Some storms may bring gusty winds up to 31 mph. Rainfall amounts will generally remain low, but heavier downpours could occur in isolated thunderstorms.

By Friday, the storms will clear, leaving behind cooler temperatures. Raleigh will see a high of 63°F with winds shifting northwest at 10–13 mph, gusting up to 28 mph. Skies will remain mostly sunny, setting up for a pleasant but breezy start to the first weekend of spring.

Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high of 73°F, but strong westerly winds and low humidity will elevate the risk of fire danger. Residents should use caution with outdoor burning. Saturday night will be clear, with temperatures dropping to 41°F.

Sunday will remain sunny with a high near 70°F, making it an ideal day to enjoy the start of spring. Lows will dip to the low 50s overnight, leading into a mild but potentially rainy start to the workweek.

Looking ahead, more showers are possible on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures staying in the low 70s. Stay updated with NWS alerts and plan accordingly for changing conditions.
