Nashville, TN – Tennessee’s first snowflakes of the season could arrive before Thanksgiving, as colder air moves south into the Appalachians and eastern valleys later this month.
According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) outlook issued October 24, 2025, the state will remain warmer and mostly dry through mid-November. But forecasters say that pattern could flip by November 18–24, with light snow or flurries possible in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and the Smoky Mountains, while Nashville sees mainly frost and chilly rain.
Higher elevations in East Tennessee could record the first measurable snow of the season if colder air and lingering moisture overlap ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
NOAA notes that this won’t be a major storm but could bring slick travel to mountain passes and early morning commuters in the foothills. For most of the state, it’ll simply mark the start of winter’s return to the Volunteer State.
