Madison, WI – Wisconsin could see its first measurable snow of the season before Thanksgiving, as colder air and early storm systems move through the Upper Midwest, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).
The October 24, 2025 NOAA outlook calls for above-average temperatures through early November. However, by November 15–23, the state is expected to shift toward colder and wetter conditions, with the potential for light to moderate snow in Madison, Green Bay, and Milwaukee.
Forecasters say northern and central Wisconsin will likely see the first accumulations of the season, with snow totals ranging from a dusting to a couple of inches, depending on storm timing. Southern Wisconsin may start with rain before switching to snow as temperatures drop closer to Thanksgiving.
NOAA notes that while this system isn’t expected to bring significant accumulation, it may mark the state’s first true step into winter weather, just in time for the holiday travel season.
