Cleveland, OH – Ohio may see its first measurable snow of the season before Thanksgiving, as colder air from Canada pushes into the Great Lakes region in mid- to late November, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).
NOAA’s October 24, 2025 forecast calls for a warmer, quieter start to November. But as the jet stream dips south by November 15–23, conditions are expected to favor lake-effect snow and light accumulation in Cleveland and Akron, with Columbus seeing a chance for mixed precipitation or flurries.
Forecasters say snow totals should remain light—generally an inch or less in most areas—but timing could coincide with the Thanksgiving travel rush, potentially leading to slippery roads and minor delays across I-71 and I-77.
While southern Ohio will likely stay rain-only, this pattern marks the official start of winter weather across the Buckeye State.
