Burlington, VT – Vermonters could see the first snowflakes of the season well before Thanksgiving, as colder air and light precipitation return to the Green Mountain State later this month.

According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) outlook issued October 24, 2025, early November will remain warmer and drier than normal, keeping the first half of the month snow-free. But forecasters expect a shift to colder air between November 15–23, raising the odds for light to moderate snow in Burlington, Montpelier, and Stowe, with higher accumulations possible in mountain towns above 1,500 feet.

While southern Vermont may stay mostly rain, northern and central counties are likely to see the first measurable snow of the season, just as the holiday travel period begins. Drivers heading along I-89 or Route 100 should be alert for slick spots if temperatures dip below freezing overnight.

NOAA says this could mark the region’s first true step into winter — right on schedule for Vermont’s snow season.
