Boston, MA – The first snowflakes of the season may be closer than many in Massachusetts expect, as colder air moves into the state just ahead of Thanksgiving.

According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) forecast released October 24, 2025, the Bay State will stay mild and mostly dry through early November. However, forecasters see signs of cooler air arriving mid- to late-month, especially across central and western Massachusetts. That could bring light snow or a wintry mix to areas around Worcester, Springfield, and the Berkshires between November 18–24.

While Boston and coastal communities will likely stay rain-only during this period, inland towns may see the first measurable flakes of the season if temperatures dip below freezing overnight.

Forecasters caution that even light early snow can create slick roads and visibility issues—especially for those traveling in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.

For now, Massachusetts remains mild—but NOAA says winter is on deck for the second half of November.
