Boise, ID – Idaho could see its first measurable snow of the season before Thanksgiving, as a strong Pacific storm track and colder Canadian air converge over the Intermountain West, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).

The October 24, 2025 outlook shows near-normal temperatures to start November, but by November 12–21, NOAA expects a shift toward colder and wetter conditions, especially across the central and northern mountains.

Forecasters say Boise, Idaho Falls, and Coeur d’Alene could see light to moderate snow, with heavier accumulations likely in the Sawtooth Range and northern Panhandle. Valley areas may start as rain before turning to snow, while travel routes like I-84 and U.S. 95 could see slick spots and low visibility near Thanksgiving week.

NOAA notes that this system will not be extreme, but it will likely mark the beginning of Idaho’s winter weather pattern, leading to more frequent snow chances into December.
