Salt Lake City, UT – Utah’s first snow of the season could arrive just before Thanksgiving, as colder Pacific air and active storm systems move across the Wasatch Front, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).

The October 24, 2025 outlook shows dry and mild conditions early this month, but a shift around November 12–21 could bring colder temperatures and light to moderate snowfall to Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo.

Forecasters say mountain zones will see the most accumulation — 3 to 6 inches in higher elevations — while the valley could see a dusting to 2 inches. Travel along I-15 and I-80 may be impacted by slick roads and reduced visibility during the pre-holiday rush.

NOAA notes this event is unlikely to be a major storm, but it may mark the start of Utah’s winter pattern, paving the way for more frequent snow systems into December.
