Minneapolis, MN – The first significant snow of the season could hit Minnesota before Thanksgiving, as colder air sweeps south from Canada and meets lingering moisture across the Upper Midwest, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).

The October 24, 2025 outlook calls for a mild start to November, but a strong cold front between November 15–23 could trigger light to moderate snow in Minneapolis, Rochester, and Duluth. Forecasters say northern Minnesota will likely see the first measurable accumulation, with totals increasing near the Iron Range and Lake Superior shoreline.

The Twin Cities could pick up a dusting to an inch before Thanksgiving week, while southern Minnesota may see a brief wintry mix. The system is not expected to be major but may cause slick travel and early-season delays as temperatures dip below freezing statewide.
