Lexington, KY – Kentucky may see its first snowflakes of the season just before Thanksgiving, as forecasters track colder air diving south into the Bluegrass State later this month.

According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) update released October 24, 2025, Kentucky will stay warmer and drier than normal through early November. But colder air expected between November 18–24 could drop temperatures enough for light snow or flurries across Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green.

Forecasters say the best chance for measurable snow lies in northern and central counties, while southern Kentucky will likely see rain mixed with brief sleet or frost. Though totals are expected to stay minor, early snow could still impact travel during the busy holiday week.

NOAA emphasizes this isn’t a major storm setup — but it may mark the official start of winter weather across parts of the state, right on time for the Thanksgiving rush.
