Topeka, KS – Kansas could see its first snow of the season before Thanksgiving, as colder air from the north sweeps into the Plains later this month, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC).

The October 24, 2025 outlook shows above-average temperatures holding through early November. However, by November 15–23, a shift to colder and more unsettled weather could bring flurries or light snow to Topeka, Wichita, and Kansas City, particularly across the northern and central parts of the state.

Forecasters say snow totals should remain light — generally less than an inch — but temperatures could dip below freezing overnight, creating frost and slick spots as Thanksgiving approaches. Southern Kansas is expected to see only rain, though sharp temperature drops are likely statewide.

NOAA notes this isn’t a major system, but it may mark the official start of winter weather for Kansas — right on time for late November.
