Carol Stream, Ill. — The Village of Carol Stream will perform the first Village-wide adult mosquito control spray on the evening of tomorrow, June 24. This will be performed by the Village’s mosquito abatement program, under contract with Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management, Inc. The spray will happen between dusk on June 24 and dawn on June 25.
The mosquito control uses EPA-registered larvicides and adulticides, which are safe for residential areas. The Village said residents may remain outdoors and no extra precautions are necessary at the time of the spray. Larvicides are also periodically used in storm sewer catch basins in the community to prevent breeding.
The Village of Carol Stream explained that adult mosquitoes cause irritating bites and sometimes spread diseases. The mosquito control is part of a seasonal May through October plan in coordination with Bloomingdale and Wayne Townships to manage the mosquito population across Carol Stream.
Residents can sign up for automated notifications through the Clarke hotline by phone or online. There, residents can also report standing water or high mosquito activity. More information about mosquito control products can be found online.
