Fireworks Accident Claims Life of 25-Year-Old in LaSalle County

Ottawa, IL – A LaSalle County man has died following an incident involving illegal fireworks early Friday morning.

According to Sheriff Adam Diss, deputies responded to a call at approximately 12:26 a.m. at 3073 E 12th Rd. Utica Fire and EMS also responded to the scene. The 25-year-old male victim was transported to OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities report that the accident occurred when the victim was handling illegal fireworks, which resulted in a fatal injury. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, LaSalle County Coroner’s Office, and Illinois Department of Natural Resources are jointly investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
