Indianapolis, IN – A fire, potentially caused by an errant firework, ignited the front porch of a home at 409 N Grant Ave, prompting the evacuation of a 17-year-old girl. She managed to escape unharmed, but one cat perished, and two others remain unaccounted for.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the blaze erupted at 7:29 PM and rapidly spread to the interior of the home. Firefighters were able to control the fire within 15 minutes, but not before it caused significant structural damage, displacing the family of three who have been renting the home since January.
The fire is currently under investigation.
