Atlanta, GA – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City issued a fire danger statement for north and central Georgia. The advisory remains in effect from noon to 7 p.m. today due to low humidity and dry fuels.
According to the NWS, relative humidity will drop to 25% or less, and wind speeds from the north will remain under 5 mph. These conditions increase the risk of wildfires. Officials urge residents to check local burn restrictions before lighting outdoor fires.
Authorities advise extreme caution when burning outside. Even a small spark can ignite dry vegetation and spread rapidly. Residents should keep fire suppression tools nearby and avoid burning during peak dry conditions.
Local agencies continue to monitor the situation. Officials will update advisories if conditions change. The public should stay informed through official weather sources.
