Indianapolis, IN — Firefighters responded quickly after a fire broke out in a third-floor apartment at 1615 Mondrian Place near 16th and Park on Sunday evening. Multiple 911 calls reported the sound of an explosion. Residents swiftly evacuated the building.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find visible flames coming from the third floor. The fire, which originated in an HVAC system inside the apartment, was contained to the unit. Crews kept damage to a minimum, with only minor extension into the roofline.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, and no injuries were reported. One adult was displaced as a result of the incident.
