Washington, D.C. – A series of federal government websites are drawing backlash after displaying partisan shutdown messages that critics describe as pro-Trump propaganda.

During the ongoing funding lapse, sites across multiple agencies — including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, State Department, Health and Human Services, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — posted banners blaming Democrats for the shutdown while crediting President Trump and his administration for working to reopen government.

One USDA banner accused a “Radical Left Democrat shutdown,” while the CDC site declared: “The Trump Administration is working to reopen the government for the American people.” HHS, meanwhile, told users to “use this site as a resource as the Trump Administration works to reopen the government.”

By contrast, other agencies such as the National Archives and the Bureau of Economic Analysis stuck to standard, neutral notices: “Due to a lapse in appropriations, this website is not being updated.”

Critics say the partisan banners represent a disturbing politicization of public resources. “This isn’t just rhetoric — it’s propaganda pushed through official federal channels,” one watchdog analyst told reporters. “These sites exist to inform the public, not to serve as campaign tools.”

The controversy underscores how shutdowns — already disruptive for millions of Americans — are increasingly being leveraged for political messaging wars. For farmers, families, and businesses who depend on timely updates from agencies like USDA or CDC, the blending of government information with partisan talking points raises new concerns about trust, neutrality, and accountability.
