Washington Court House, OH – Two separate vehicle incidents were reported Tuesday afternoon and evening in Fayette County, leaving a juvenile injured and another driver jailed on impaired driving charges.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 3:37 p.m. Tuesday to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Harding Road and Diamond Road. Upon arrival, deputies determined a juvenile was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 eastbound on Harding Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck two trees in a ditch.

Authorities said the juvenile lost control of the truck and sustained injuries in the crash. The juvenile was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment. The vehicle was later deemed a total loss.

Deputies cited the juvenile for reckless driving and failure to maintain control, according to the sheriff’s office. Fayette County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Clermont Fire Department, Clermont EMS, and Torkelson Auto.

Later that evening, at approximately 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to multiple reports of a vehicle in a ditch near the intersection of 230th Street and State Route 41.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Jamie Alan Ruth, 50, of Wisconsin, was allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence. Authorities said Ruth was taken into custody and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI), second offense, as well as interference with official acts.

Ruth was transported to the Fayette County Jail, where he is being held pending an initial court appearance.

The sheriff’s office did not report any additional injuries in the second incident. Both cases remain under investigation.
