Fayette, IA – A Dunkerton man was tased and arrested Thursday morning after allegedly attempting to flee deputies during a suspicious person call, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened around 10:51 a.m. on October 2, 2025, when deputies responded to reports of a suspicious male walking along Willow Road near 20th Street. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies located the man near W Avenue and 20th Street.
Authorities said the suspect attempted to run through a field before being tased and taken into custody without further incident. The man was identified as 39-year-old Shawn P. Hansen of Dunkerton.
Hansen was transported to the Fayette County Jail and charged with interference with official acts, deputies said. He was also wanted by the Oelwein Police Department in connection with a separate incident that occurred the night before.
No injuries were reported during the arrest. Deputies have not released further details regarding the Oelwein case.
