Oelwein, IA – What began as a two-vehicle crash in Hawkeye, Iowa, on October 11 turned into a multi-agency drug investigation that ended with two arrests and the recovery of a missing teen, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 10:39 a.m. at the intersection of West Wilbur Street and South Burrell Street. Investigators determined that Samantha Rae Corsbie, 37, of Garnavillo, was driving a Chevrolet Traverse when Regina Rena Larson, 52, of Oelwein, allegedly failed to yield in a Dodge Ram and struck her vehicle. No injuries were reported, but both vehicles sustained thousands in damages.
During the investigation, deputies reported detecting the smell of illegal substances from Larson’s vehicle. A search allegedly uncovered 19 grams of methamphetamine. Larson was arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, along with traffic violations.
Later that evening, deputies executed a related search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue NE in Oelwein, where officers reportedly found illegal drugs and two individuals attempting to hide from law enforcement. Michael William Bushaw, 34, of Oelwein, was arrested on several felony drug charges and for harboring a runaway. A 16-year-old male who had been reported missing was also located and taken into custody.
Bushaw and Larson remain in custody awaiting initial appearances.
