West Union, IA – Four people were taken into custody in Fayette County over the past several days following traffic stops and warrant arrests, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, deputies arrested 28-year-old Lynette Knickerbocker of West Union on two Fayette County warrants for failure to appear. Authorities said the original charges stemmed from trespassing and disorderly conduct/public intoxication. Knickerbocker is being held in jail on a $500 bond. Cedar Rapids Police assisted with the arrest.

In a separate case early Sunday, deputies stopped a vehicle near T Avenue and Scenic Road outside Waucoma. Investigators said the driver, 20-year-old Chase Allen Hayek of Fort Atkinson, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense. He was taken to the Fayette County Jail.

On September 26, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle parked at Casey’s in West Union. Authorities said the driver, 56-year-old Vincent Zavala, had a valid arrest warrant and no driver’s license. His passenger, 39-year-old Edward Brown, was allegedly in possession of controlled substances. Both men were transported to jail, where Brown was later found with more drugs, according to deputies.

The following evening, September 27, deputies reported another OWI arrest. Around 7:30 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle near South 2nd and Pear Street in Hawkeye. The driver, identified as 67-year-old Terry Floyd Thein, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense.
