Fayette County, IA – A two-vehicle collision Thursday morning left a pickup truck overturned and caused significant damage in Fayette County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say the crash happened around 10:52 a.m. on October 30 at the intersection of Highway 3 and T Avenue. A 2013 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer, driven by 24-year-old Thomas Edward Amundson of Elgin, allegedly pulled onto Highway 3 and failed to yield to a 2005 Chevy Silverado traveling west, driven by 46-year-old Jeremiah Fink of Sumner.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the semi struck the side of the Chevy, causing it to roll into a ditch. Minor injuries were reported, and Fink’s pickup was considered a total loss. The Freightliner sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.

Amundson was charged with failure to yield upon entering a through highway. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Westgate Fire Department, Mercy One Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol.
