Franklin Parish, LA – A 20-year-old man from Winnsboro died in a head-on collision Wednesday evening on LA Highway 130. The crash occurred near Turner Neal Road at around 5 p.m.
According to Louisiana State Police, Ethan Cottingham was driving a 2022 Ford F-150 when a Mack dump truck driven by 69-year-old James Fowler crossed the centerline. The truck collided with Cottingham’s vehicle in the eastbound lane. Investigators are still determining why the truck veered off course.
Cottingham, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene from his injuries. Fowler, who was properly restrained, was unharmed in the crash. Police say impairment is not suspected, though toxicology samples were collected from both drivers as part of the investigation.
