Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision in New Castle Claims Lives of Mother and Child

New Castle, DE – Two people were killed and multiple others injured in a three-vehicle crash on Christiana Road late Wednesday night. The accident involved a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, a 2022 Kia K5, and a 2020 Hyundai Tucson.

According to Delaware State Police, the Dodge was stopped at a traffic light on Christiana Road, turning left onto Airport Road. The Kia, allegedly speeding westbound, ran a red light and struck the Dodge, which spun and overturned. The Kia then crossed a median, colliding with the Hyundai.

The driver of the Dodge, a 29-year-old woman, and a 10-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other passengers in the Dodge, all children, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Kia, a 26-year-old man, and the Hyundai’s driver, a 43-year-old woman, were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities closed the roadway for six hours to investigate the scene. The victims’ identities are being withheld pending family notifications.
