Fatal Semi-Truck Crash in Missouri Claims Life on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County

Ste. Genevieve, MO – A fatal crash involving a semi-truck occurred early this morning in Ste. Genevieve County, claiming the life of a 48-year-old local man. The crash happened at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Interstate 55 near the 140-mile marker.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Troop C, the driver, operating a Freightliner Cascadia, lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the roadway. The semi struck a billboard sign before coming to a stop. Emergency responders pronounced the driver deceased at the scene at 1:36 a.m. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no additional injuries were reported.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, but weather conditions and fatigue are being considered as possible factors. The driver was identified as a resident of Ste. Genevieve. His identity has been withheld until family members are notified.

The crash resulted in temporary lane closures on I-55 while crews worked to clear the scene. Traffic delays lasted several hours but have since resumed normal flow.
