Avoyelles Parish, LA – Two people were killed in separate crashes on Louisiana Highway 107 on October 19. The first crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. near Center Point, involving 62-year-old Harold P. Gaspard of Marksville. Gaspard’s Dodge pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Chevrolet. Gaspard, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The Chevrolet’s driver suffered minor injuries.

Later, around 10:20 p.m., 37-year-old Terrence Hawkins died after his Nissan left the roadway and overturned near Pinks Lane. Hawkins, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Louisiana State Police, both crashes are under investigation. Toxicology samples were collected from both drivers. Authorities remind motorists that distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts remain major factors in fatal crashes.
