
Tippecanoe County, IN – The Indiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 65 southbound near the 176.5-mile marker that occurred Thursday evening just before 8 p.m.
According to investigators, a 2023 Audi SQ5 was traveling south when it was rear-ended by a semi-truck. Preliminary findings suggest the Audi may have been slowed or stopped in the roadway at the time of the collision. After impact, both vehicles veered off the west side of the interstate and down an embankment.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. The victim’s name will be released after family notifications are completed. The semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team, assisted by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and local fire departments.
Authorities remind drivers to remain alert and maintain safe distances, especially when traffic slows unexpectedly on high-speed roadways.
