FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A high-speed police pursuit ended in tragedy late Wednesday night when a pickup truck crashed into a home in the 5700 block of Roaring Fork Run, leaving the driver dead, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
The incident began around 10:14 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2025, when an officer patrolling near the Northcrest Shopping Center spotted a pickup truck speeding north on Clinton Street. The officer attempted to catch up as the driver turned east onto St. Joe Center Road, then south into the Papermill Bluffs neighborhood.
As the truck accelerated eastbound on Papermill Xing, the officer closed the distance and activated emergency lights and siren. Police say the driver continued at an “excessively high rate of speed” for a short time before losing control, striking two parked vehicles in a driveway, and then crashing into a nearby home.
The driver, who was the sole occupant, was found pinned inside the truck. Medics pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. No one inside the home was injured, and no additional vehicles were involved.
Fort Wayne Fire Department personnel extricated the driver, whose identity will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office along with the cause and manner of death.
The Fort Wayne Police Department’s FACT Team is continuing to investigate.
