Fatal ATV Accident: Putnam County Incident Claims 21-Year-Old’s Life

Hennepin, IL – A 21-year-old Granville man has died following an ATV accident in Hennepin on Thursday afternoon. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received a 911 call at approximately 3:34 p.m. on August 10, 2024, concerning an individual who had sustained injuries after falling from an ATV-type vehicle on Hazel Marie Boyle Drive.

Emergency crews responded promptly to the scene and found the victim, identified as Skyler A. Williams, with severe head trauma. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Williams was airlifted by Life Flight to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Williams was pronounced dead early the next morning, on August 11.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the incident is still under investigation. The sheriff’s office was supported by the Hennepin Fire Department, Putnam County Emergency Medical Services (PCEMS), OSF Life Flight, and the Granville Fire Department in their response to the accident.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers associated with ATV use, particularly in rural areas where these vehicles are popular for both work and recreation. Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
