Grand Forks, ND – Residents across southeastern North Dakota are being advised to prepare for light snow and slippery travel conditions beginning Friday night and continuing into early Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.
Forecasters say the north edge of a light snow system will move across southeast North Dakota into west-central Minnesota, mainly south of Interstate 94. The snow is expected to begin late Friday evening and taper off by midday Saturday, with accumulations generally light.
The highest chances for around 2 inches of snow are expected near Forman and Wahpeton, while areas farther north, including Fargo, are forecast to see only minimal accumulation. In addition, Baudette, MN could see brief lake-effect snow as the system exits.
Potential impacts include slick roads, sidewalks, and longer travel times, particularly early Saturday morning. Motorists traveling overnight or early Saturday are urged to allow extra time and drive with caution as temperatures dip near freezing.
The system is expected to clear out by Saturday afternoon, with cooler and calmer conditions returning for the remainder of the weekend.
