Tulsa, OK – Unseasonable warmth will grip northeast Oklahoma through early next week, with afternoon highs pushing close to 90 degrees and little relief at night. The prolonged stretch of dry, sunny weather comes as residents typically expect cooler fall air to arrive.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, Friday through Monday will stay mostly sunny with highs from the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. South to southeast winds will run 5 to 15 mph during the day, increasing to occasional gusts of 20 mph by the weekend. Clear skies will bring overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s, keeping conditions mild but not especially cool for October.

The warm, dry stretch may stress late-season crops and lawns while raising fire danger in rural counties such as Creek, Osage, and Wagoner. Emergency managers caution that gusty afternoons, combined with dry grass, could support fast-moving grass fires along U.S. 75 and I-44. Residents should avoid outdoor burning and secure trailer chains that could spark along highways.

Travelers and outdoor event planners can expect clear skies for football games, festivals, and lake trips, though breezy conditions may make boating choppier on Keystone and Oologah Lakes. The heat also increases risks for those spending extended hours outdoors. Officials advise dressing in light layers, staying hydrated, and checking on vulnerable neighbors who may still rely on window units or fans.

A slight chance of showers enters the picture Tuesday afternoon, but forecasters stress most areas will remain dry. More typical October cooling is not expected until mid to late next week.
