WILMINGTON, Ohio – A sharp drop in temperatures will sweep across Ohio late this weekend, bringing the coldest air of the season so far and a chance for light snow or flurries by early Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, much colder air will arrive Sunday as a cold front pushes through the Ohio Valley. Highs will fall into the 40s Sunday afternoon before plunging into the 20s overnight. Flurries and light snow showers may develop late Sunday night into Monday morning, with minor accumulations possible—mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces.

Meteorologists say the chill will linger into Tuesday, with daytime highs struggling to reach the upper 30s and lows dipping into the low 20s for many locations, including Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. “This will be a noticeable shift after the recent mild stretch,” forecasters noted, urging residents to protect sensitive plants and ensure pets have warm shelter overnight.

While widespread travel issues are not expected, early commuters Monday could encounter slick spots on bridges and overpasses. A gradual warming trend is expected to return by midweek, pushing highs back into the 50s by Wednesday.
