San Antonio, Texas – Summerlike heat is set to dominate South-Central Texas through early next week, with highs in the 90s and only brief chances for showers. The stretch could bring near-record temperatures, unusual for early October, raising concerns for outdoor events and air quality in Bexar County.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, Friday will bring highs near 94 degrees, with a 20 percent chance of isolated showers in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be light but could gust east at 10 mph by nightfall. Saturday and Sunday both look mostly sunny, with highs reaching 91 to 93 degrees. Nights remain warm and muggy, holding in the low 70s, which may stress sensitive residents unaccustomed to fall heat.

TxDOT cautions drivers along I-35, I-10, and Loop 410 that late-day sun glare may impact travel during rush hours. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged time outdoors during peak heating, and check on pets, plants, and neighbors as afternoon highs remain well above normal.

Looking ahead, partly cloudy skies return Monday with highs in the low 90s before a modest cool-down midweek. By Wednesday night, lows could dip into the upper 60s, offering a first hint of seasonal change.
