Kankakee, IL – Three men were arrested after a violent home invasion in rural Kankakee. The suspects restrained the homeowner, stole firearms, and fled before deputies swiftly tracked them down.

Deputies responded to a home on North Pearl Street on February 10. A suspect posing as an Uber Eats delivery driver approached the door. When the homeowner engaged, two others forced their way inside. The intruders zip-tied the victim and ransacked the residence, stealing electronics, cash, and multiple firearms, including handguns and rifles.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Marcus A. Phelan, 41, of Kankakee; James E. Schoeberl II, 38, of St. Anne; and Ryan A. McManimen, 29, of Bourbonnais. All face home invasion charges. Deputies found Phelan armed at the time of arrest and took him into custody on an outstanding warrant from Morgan County. Investigators recovered multiple stolen items.

The suspects remain jailed at the Jerome Combs Detention Center, awaiting a detention hearing. More charges may follow as the investigation continues.
