Winnsboro, SC – A shooting investigation in Fairfield County led to the arrest of a wanted man Tuesday afternoon, and deputies say a second person of interest is still being sought as of Wednesday.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday near Columbia Road and 2nd Street in Winnsboro. Deputies responded after a caller reported hearing gunfire and took shelter in a nearby business. When investigators arrived, they found multiple spent shell casings scattered in the roadway.

Deputies later developed information identifying a white Honda seen leaving the area. The driver was allegedly identified as Tyrese Robertson, who was already wanted on outstanding warrants. The vehicle was located a short time later, and officials say Robertson was taken into custody without incident.

According to investigators, Robertson is now charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. The sheriff’s office noted that the investigation remains active and that additional charges could be filed as new information develops.

Officials emphasized that the shooting appears to have been a targeted incident between individuals who know one another, and there is currently no broader threat to the community.

Investigators are still seeking a second person of interest believed to have been involved in the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers, or call Investigator Barry Gilbert directly at 803-815-4130.
