Pickerington, OH – Fairfield County residents can safely clear out old prescription medications this Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the DEA National Rx Take Back Day.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, the event is held in partnership with Fairfield County Soil and Water Conservation, the City of Canal Winchester, Diley Ridge Medical Center, and Violet Township. Two collection sites will operate locally:

  • Violet Township: 490 North Center Street, Pickerington, OH 43147
  • Diley Ridge Medical Center: 7911 Diley Road, Canal Winchester, OH 43110

Electronics recycling will also be available at the Violet Township location. Organizers say the event will accept tablets, capsules, patches, and other prescription forms. However, no syringes, sharps, or illicit drugs will be accepted. Liquid medications, such as cough syrup, must remain sealed in their original containers.

The recycling portion will accept vaping devices (with batteries removed) and other electronics. A small disposal fee may apply for certain items—$1 per diagonal inch for televisions and $5 per computer monitor. Payments must be made by cash or check only; no credit cards will be accepted.

The event aims to reduce improper medication disposal and environmental waste while providing a safe way for residents to declutter responsibly.
