Salt Lake City, UT – Utah is experiencing an unprecedented heat wave, with temperatures reaching 106°F at the Salt Lake City Airport, breaking the previous daily record of 104°F set in 2021. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an excessive heat warning, with conditions expected to persist until midnight on Sunday, July 14.

According to the NWS, the high temperatures will continue, with Salt Lake City forecasted to hit 105°F today. Friday’s high is predicted to be 103°F, followed by 104°F on Saturday. The excessive heat poses significant health risks, especially for vulnerable populations, and residents are urged to take precautions.

The 10-day forecast indicates a slight relief with temperatures dropping to around 100°F by Sunday. However, the heat will remain intense, with highs in the mid-90s early next week. Sunny conditions will prevail, with wind gusts up to 18 mph adding to the dry heat.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat, and check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those without air conditioning. The NWS recommends keeping cool in air-conditioned spaces and wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing.
