Shreveport, Louisiana – A relentless stretch of high heat is settling over northwest Louisiana this week, with Shreveport expected to see daily highs in the upper 90s through Friday and little relief at night. The most intense heat is forecast between Wednesday and Friday, when temperatures could top out near 97°F and heat indices may rise above 100°F in urban areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, calm to light winds and sunny skies will dominate through at least Saturday. Overnight lows will remain elevated in the mid-70s, offering minimal cooling—raising concerns for heat-related stress and increasing the need for hydration and shaded breaks.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, high near 95°F. Winds light from the northeast.
Wednesday: High near 96°F, mostly clear overnight with lows around 76°F.
Thursday: Peak heat expected, high 97°F. Humidity may push “feels like” temps past 100°F.
Friday: Hot and sunny again with a high near 97°F.
Saturday: Same pattern continues, with persistent sun and highs around 97°F.

This extended dry and hot spell is likely to strain energy usage and elevate fire danger in drier grasslands. Residents should avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, check on vulnerable neighbors, and limit use of heat-producing appliances indoors.

No rain is expected through the weekend, and elevated heat continues into early next week. More advisories may be issued if heat indices rise further.
