Miami, FL – A heat advisory has been issued for all of South Florida as heat index values are predicted to remain in the 105 to 108-degree range each afternoon with little reprieve overnight. Residents are urged to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated during the extreme heat.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the advisory, effective from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this weekend, highlights the dangerously high temperatures expected across the region. Areas like La Belle and Immokalee could experience heat index values reaching up to 110 degrees, while Naples may see a maximum heat index of 113 degrees. Other locations, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Homestead, are forecasted to have heat indices between 106 and 107 degrees.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also likely this afternoon, with the best coverage over the interior and southwest parts of Florida. Rain chances for cities like Palmdale, Clewiston, and Immokalee stand at 70%, while Miami and Fort Lauderdale have rain probabilities of 38% and 41%, respectively.
Looking ahead to the coming week, temperatures are expected to remain in the low to mid-90s. Miami will see highs around 93 degrees today, dropping slightly to the lower 90s by midweek. Thunderstorms are forecasted to continue intermittently, with a 40% to 50% chance of rain on Sunday and Monday.
