Twin Cities, MN — An Arctic cold front continues to bring dangerous conditions across Minnesota, with sub-zero temperatures and wind chills plummeting as low as -40°F through Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind chill warning for much of the state, warning residents to take precautions against frostbite and hypothermia.

According to the NWS Twin Cities office, the most hazardous conditions are expected overnight Monday into early Tuesday, when frostbite can occur on exposed skin in less than 10 minutes. Wind chills ranging from -30°F to -40°F will be widespread, with the coldest air hitting central and southern Minnesota, including St. Cloud, Mankato, and the Twin Cities metro area.

Temperatures are forecast to moderate by Wednesday, with daytime highs reaching the 20s. Until then, residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, dress in layers, and ensure pets are protected.

Emergency officials urge Minnesotans to watch for signs of frostbite, including pale or numb skin, and hypothermia symptoms like shivering or confusion. Anyone in need of assistance should seek shelter immediately.
