Joliet, IL — I-80 drivers should expect lane closures starting Friday night, September 27, as bridge deck repairs and pavement patching continue. Lane closures will impact eastbound traffic between Houbolt Road and Richards Street.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), closures will start at 10 p.m. Friday, with at least one lane open at all times. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, September 30, if weather allows.
Significant delays are expected. Local roads cannot handle oversized vehicles, so alternate interstate routes are encouraged for truck drivers. Motorists should plan for extended travel times.
Additional lane closures are scheduled for the following weekend, from 10 p.m. on Friday, October 4, until 5 a.m. Monday, October 7.
