Binghamton, NY – Residents in Northeast Pennsylvania and Southeast New York should prepare for evening thunderstorms this weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The forecast predicts partly sunny conditions during the day, with a high chance of thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.

According to the NWS, clouds will persist throughout the weekend, with some areas experiencing morning fog. Saturday’s temperatures will reach highs of 81°F, with scattered thunderstorms primarily affecting areas from Elmira to Binghamton to Oneonta. The storms are expected to move south and east into Northeast Pennsylvania by late afternoon and evening, bringing brief but intense rainfall and gusty winds.

Sunday will continue the trend of partly sunny skies with a slight increase in humidity. Temperatures will peak again at 81°F, with a 20% chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. The NWS advises residents to monitor weather updates and be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.

The extended forecast for the region indicates that Monday will remain mostly cloudy with temperatures rising slightly to 83°F. The chance of rain increases significantly on Tuesday, with a 55% likelihood of showers and thunderstorms and a high of 76°F. Wednesday and Thursday will continue to see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures in the upper 70s.
