According to the Sheriff’s Office, scammers are calling residents and attempting to steal money by pretending to be law enforcement officials. They often demand payment through wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or payment apps, methods that make it difficult to recover the money. The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that they will never request payment or solicit funds over the phone.
