Eureka, Calif. – Showers will continue across far Northern California through Wednesday night, leaving slick roads and minor ponding in low-lying areas. The National Weather Service in Eureka reports totals ranging from a quarter inch in inland valleys to more than half an inch along parts of the coast.

According to the weather service, the heaviest rainfall is expected Tuesday evening into early Wednesday, with Shelter Cove projected to see more than two-thirds of an inch by the time the system clears out. Gasquet, Crescent City, and Klamath will also see higher totals, near a half inch, while Eureka and Fortuna remain closer to a quarter inch.

Drivers should anticipate wet pavement and reduced visibility, especially along U.S. 101 through Del Norte and Humboldt counties. Road crews may need extra time to clear debris in rural areas. Residents are advised to slow down on highways, avoid standing water, and keep storm drains clear near homes.

Showers are expected to taper off by Thursday morning, giving way to drier conditions late week. More updates may be issued if a secondary system approaches this weekend.
