Eureka, Calif. – Morning fog will continue to slow commutes along the North Coast this week, with overnight lows dipping into the low 50s and mild afternoons topping out near 65 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, patchy fog is expected before 8 a.m. each day through at least Friday, giving way to mostly sunny skies by the afternoon. Winds will remain light, shifting north-northwest between 5 and 8 mph during the afternoons and evenings.
Drivers along U.S. Highway 101 near Arcata and Fortuna should be prepared for reduced visibility during early morning hours. Coastal neighborhoods, including McKinleyville and Trinidad, will see the thickest fog, while inland valleys may clear faster. Residents are urged to use headlights in foggy conditions and allow extra travel time.
Temperatures remain steady, with highs near 65 and lows hovering around 52 to 55 degrees overnight. By the weekend, skies will stay mostly sunny, though patchy coastal fog could still form late at night and early morning.
Calm conditions are expected to persist, but forecasters note fog will remain a daily factor along the Humboldt shoreline.
