EUREKA, Calif. – Rain is on the way for Northern California, with showers expected to begin early Monday and continue into Tuesday, dampening roads and slowing outdoor projects. Drivers along the coast from Crescent City to Eureka should prepare for wet pavement during the Monday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, rain chances increase sharply after midnight, reaching 75 to 85 percent in Del Norte and Humboldt counties by sunrise Monday. McKinleyville could see nearly three-tenths of an inch of rainfall through the day, while Crescent City totals may approach a half inch by Tuesday morning.
Communities inland, including Willow Creek, Trinity Center, and Ruth, will also see measurable rain, though amounts taper off the farther south and east you go. Ukiah and Lakeport face lighter impacts, with totals under a tenth of an inch.
Residents are urged to plan for slower travel, use headlights in rainy conditions, and allow extra stopping distance on slick roads. Outdoor events and construction projects may face delays, with the steadiest rain falling between Monday morning and evening.
Showers are expected to fade late Tuesday, with drier weather likely by midweek, though additional updates may be issued if rainfall lingers.
