Eureka, Calif. – Fog continues to blanket the North Coast this weekend, with rain and possible thunderstorms set to move in early next week. The National Weather Service says patchy fog will linger along the coast through Sunday morning before cloudier skies take hold.
According to the agency, rain chances increase Sunday evening, with the best shot for showers and thunderstorms arriving Monday into Monday night. Some storms may bring heavy downpours and brief gusty winds. Rainfall totals are expected to stay light, but localized downpours could affect travel along U.S. 101 and nearby coastal highways.
Humboldt County residents should prepare for slick roadways and reduced visibility from fog, particularly overnight and during early commutes. Those driving through Arcata, Fortuna, and Eureka are urged to slow down and keep headlights on low beam during foggy stretches.
Calm winds are expected most of the weekend, shifting west at 5 to 7 mph by Sunday. Temperatures will hold steady, with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-50s.
Showers may persist through Wednesday morning, with patchy fog remaining a factor each night. Additional updates and advisories may be issued if thunderstorms develop Monday.
