California – Damp coastal air and gray skies settle over Eureka this afternoon, with light rain already dotting roads and reducing visibility along the coast.

According to the National Weather Service, only a slight chance of rain lingers early today, but conditions shift quickly midweek as rain chances surge to 100 percent by Wednesday. Periods of steady rainfall could bring between a quarter and half an inch, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

Across Eureka, Arcata, and along US-101, drivers should stay alert for slick pavement and reduced visibility, particularly during heavier showers. Coastal fog and mist may linger at times, making travel more challenging near Humboldt Bay. Plan extra time and use low-beam headlights when visibility drops.

Tuesday brings a brief break with partly sunny skies and highs near 55°F. That window closes quickly as clouds thicken again late in the day. By Wednesday, widespread rain returns, soaking the region and keeping temperatures cool in the mid-50s.

Rain continues into early Thursday before skies begin to clear. Sunshine returns later Thursday with highs near 54°F, followed by calmer and slightly warmer conditions into Friday.

Looking ahead, the weekend trends milder but unsettled, with additional chances for light rain returning by Saturday and Sunday.

Five Day Outlook for Eureka, California
Tuesday: High 55°F, partly sunny
Wednesday: High 54°F, steady rain
Thursday: High 54°F, clearing late
Friday: High 58°F, mostly sunny
Saturday: High 59°F, chance of rain
